Hi, Baila, I love your shiurim. I get your point that we are responsible for our own choices. But I wonder about your opening, where you say that we don't pick our family...because in Midrash on Bereishes on the words Tzeva'am, the Midrash says bechol tzivyonim, with all their features. The Midrash enumerates how before a neshama comes down to the world, it picks all its features, family and circumstances...so yes, we do choose who we will be born to....the neshama knows and agrees. The challenge is that we forget and need to accept it.
