One Letter Speaks Twice: Extraordinary Letters and Lessons from the Torah Scroll

Deborah B. Thompson is an educator and scholar of Jewish Art, Book History, and Masorah. She received her BA from Brandeis University in Art History with a minor in Near Eastern & Judaic Studies. Deborah’s passion for the intersection of art and Judaism led her to earn her MA in Jewish Art and Visual Culture from the Jewish Theological Seminary. Currently, Deborah is pursuing a Ph.D. in Jewish History at Harvard University, where her research focuses on the transition from Hebrew manuscript production to print in the Early Modern period and the impact of print culture on Jewish arts and education. Her work in Masorah focuses on the Otiot Meshunot (extraordinary letters) found in some of the oldest Torah Scrolls in the world.
